The Heilman pastel and oil boxes grew out of a need for efficient, easy to use, reliable systems for painting in studio, workshop or in plain air.

John’s gift of creativity in fine woodworking coupled with his love of precise engineering and tenacity for quality and good function has made the process of making art easier for artists of every level and discipline. As an artist working in studio, workshop and in plain air, Marge experienced and took careful note of challenges encountered by herself and fellow artists. Via “wish lists”, feedback and trial in the field John’s art boxes surpass any product available in quality, endurance and functionality.
