The first Backpack in Marge’s Signature Series

The Purpleheart Backpack keeps the same dimensions, layout, and pastel capacity as our standard Backpack model, but is crafted in naturally purple Purpleheart hardwood. The denser wood gives the box a little more weight and a distinctly substantial feel while preserving the familiar Heilman Backpack design artists already know.

Why Purpleheart?

Naturally purple. Purpleheart is a tropical hardwood whose heartwood develops its rich violet-to-deep-purple color naturally. It is not painted or stained, and every board has its own grain and color variation.

Dense and hard-wearing. Purpleheart is a heavy, dense hardwood that stands up well to dents and everyday wear, a useful trait for boxes that are carried, opened, packed, and used repeatedly.

Built for repeated use. Its hardness gives the box a substantial, premium feel and helps the edges, corners, and working surfaces hold up to regular handling.

Naturally one of a kind. Grain, tone, and figure vary from piece to piece, so no two Purpleheart boxes will look exactly alike. The color can deepen or shift somewhat with age and light exposure, which is part of the wood’s natural character.

Material note

Made from genuine Purpleheart hardwood. The purple color is natural to the wood and is not created with stain or paint. Because this is a natural material, grain and color will vary from box to box.
